Glass-Mica

Microcrystalline glass ceramic is a mica-based glass-ceramic with synthetic mica as the primary crystalline phase, serving as a machinable ceramic material. It exhibits excellent processing performance, vacuum compatibility, electrical insulation properties, as well as outstanding resistance to thermal shock (extreme temperature variations), chemical corrosion, and high mechanical strength.

Material Characteristics

Microcrystalline glass ceramic is a high-temperature resistant insulating material that is also widely used in ultra-low temperature applications due to its corrosion resistance and insulating properties. Its operational temperature range spans from -270°C to +800°C. Since the mica crystals in microcrystalline glass ceramic possess a certain degree of elasticity, they can inhibit the propagation of microcracks, giving the material excellent thermal shock resistance. It remains intact when rapidly cooled from 800°C to 0°C, and its strength remains unchanged when quenched from 200°C to 0°C. Composed entirely of inorganic materials, it also exhibits properties such as no aging or deformation, high stability against various organic solvents, and strong resistance to acid and alkali corrosion.

Material Applications

It is most widely used in industrial applications such as building materials, fire protection, fire extinguishing agents, welding electrodes, plastics, electrical insulation, papermaking, asphalt paper, rubber, pearlescent pigments, and other chemical industries. Ultrafine mica powder serves as a functional filler in plastics, coatings, paints, and rubber, enhancing mechanical strength, toughness, adhesion, aging resistance, and corrosion resistance. Additionally, it exhibits exceptional electrical insulation, acid and alkali resistance, elasticity, flexibility, lubricity, heat and sound insulation, and a low thermal expansion coefficient.
